What will happen if the rain plays a spoilsport in the final?

Gujarat Titans (GT), captained by Hardik Pandya, advanced to the IPL final match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday, May 28, at Ahmedabad’s renowned Narendra Modi Stadium after a convincing victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2.

Notably, Hardik Pandya and company secured their spot in their second consecutive final and will face four-time champions CSK for the championship. Fans at the site and those watching the final will be hoping to see a full-fledged game in addition to the two heavyweights.

It is important to note that there were brief periods of rain at the Ahmedabad location right before the Qualifier 2 match between Gujarat and Mumbai. We examine the parameters set forth by the IPL management in the event that the CSK vs. GT Final game is postponed in light of the summit match being played at the same location on Sunday.

What if Rain Intervenes in the Final?

‘AccuWeather’ has predicted that there will be 56% cloud cover and a 61% chance of showers in the evening. According to “BBC Weather,” the Final’s weather will probably continue to be brisk with 48% humidity. The game will commence at 8 p.m. on May 29th if the bad scenario—that is, if the game is hampered by the presence of the rain. A reserve day is made available. Additionally, on the reserve day, an additional 120 minutes have been set aside.

Additionally, if necessary, the number of overs will be lowered to ensure that each team has at least five overs to bat. The top match’s cutoff time for a five-over per side game is 12.26 am.

The game will be finished on the following day (May 29) if the match has begun (with at least one ball bowled) on the first day (May 28). The contest will pick up where it left off the previous day in accordance with the rules.

In the event that the toss is conducted on the designated day (May 28) and no potential play follows, a new 20-over per side match will start with a new toss on the reserve day. Teams will also be able to switch sides during the game. A Super Over can begin for the final no later than 1.20 am if even a five-over-per-side contest is not possible.
