WATCH – Harshal Patel Fails To Run Out Ravi Bishnoi At Non-striker’s End On The Last Ball At Chinnaswamy To Pave Way For LSG’s Win

Last Update on: April 11th, 2023 at 12:32 am

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants  (LSG) locked horns with each other in the 15th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Chinnaswamy. The game went down to the last ball and despite all the drama, it was the KL Rahul-led side, who managed to win the game by just 1-run.

After RCB posted a gigantic total of 212 runs on the board, LSG had the worst possible start as they lost Kyle Mayers Deepak Hooda, and Krunal Pandya early to see themselves tottering at 23/3. But after that, it was Marcus Stoinis (65) and  Nicholas Pooran (62) struck dazzling half-centuries to bring their side back into the game.

They both lost their wickets at the crucial junctions and it was all down to the LSG bowlers to win the game for their side. But they too perished as Harshal Patel bowled a staggering last over and took the game to the last ball with just 5 runs in the bank before the over.

However, on the last ball, with 1 run needed from the last delivery, Harshal saw non-striker Bishnoi had left the crease even before he delivered the ball. The bowler tried to run him out but he missed it. He then threw the ball to the stumps but the batter put in the full stretch dive. Although he was short of his crease, but Harshal was through his bowling action so that run-out didn’t count.

RCB vs LSG: “We backed ourselves to get a run-out,” Faf du Plessis on last ball drama

The dram was not restricted there only as after that Harshal Patel bowled a brilliant slower ball, which Avesh Khan missed. Bishnoi, who was at the non-striker’s end, was quick to win but keeper Dinesh Karthik fumbled to grab the ball and it saw LSG claiming the match by just 1 run.

Faf du Plessis was disappointed that his side couldn’t get the run out on the last ball. He lauded the opposition for playing well and said:

“Disappointed. They played well through the middle. One ball one run. We backed ourselves to get a run-out. Just looking at the wicket, from 7-14 it was quite slower. The last five overs it started skidding on. Really good for some good cricketing shots. Stoinis and Pooran played everything off the middle.” Faf du Plessis said at the post-match presentation.

RCB will be next seen in action when they will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in their next game on Saturday (15th April).
