Wasim Akram Reveals The Biggest Reason Behind The Recurring Injuries Of Indian Pacers

Last Update on: May 3rd, 2023 at 01:53 pm

Wasim Akram, one of the best left-arm pacers in cricket history, has disclosed the main cause of fast bowlers’ repeated injuries. According to Akram, who played pace for Pakistan for almost 17 years, the more you bowl, the less likely you are to get injured.

Some may find this statement counterintuitive, as most people believe that over-bowling causes injuries in fast bowlers. However, Akram claims that under-bowling causes injuries because it puts too much strain on the body when the bowlers do get to bowl.

“Nowadays first bowlers are not used for long bowling”- Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram, a former Pakistani cricketer and cricket analyst, has disclosed the main reason behind Indian Pacers’ reoccurring injuries. According to Akram, in modern-day cricket, fast bowlers are not utilized for long bowling sessions in nets, which limits their exposure to continuous physical activity and makes them more prone to injury.

“There are some things in fast bowling, whether it is 100 years from now, whether you take it now, it is the same, the more you bowl, the less likely you are to get injured,” Wasim Akram said in a conversation win Sportskeeda.

“Nowadays fast bowlers are not used for long bowling, if they want to remain injury-free then net bowling will have to be prolonged. You can’t expect your bowling muscles to be strong by just bowling 3-4 overs in the nets” Wasim Akram added.
