CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. — Brian Edgington took a second to pause. The six-foot graduate transfer pitcher was walking from the bullpen to the dugout after finishing up his pregame warmup tosses before Virginia’s Friday afternoon NCAA tournament opener.

This wasn’t Saint Joseph’s where the Pennsylvania native began his career. This wasn’t Elon where he matured into a multi-year starter.

This was a regional opener in front of a buzzing Disharoon Park crowd that would grow to be 5,487 strong, more people than Edgington had ever pitched in front of before.
