Kolkata Knight Riders were up for their chase after their miracle finish in their last IPL fixture. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave the team a quick blow dismissing Gurbaz in the first over. Marco Jansen who was given the third over added more to the wound dismissing both Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine in consecutive deliveries, dropping KKR to just 7 remaining wickets within the power play.
Narayan Jagadeesan and Nitish Rana had an important 62 runs partnership to bring the inning back on track but it was Mayank Markande who dismissed Jagadeesan to provide SRH with the breakthrough. SRH with the breakthrough were like hungry sharks as Mayank Markande struck again dismissing Andre Russell.
However, skipper Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh once again showed why they were two of the most dependable batters for the Knights this season as the duo stitched a 59 runs partnership for the 6th wicket that was brought to an end by T Natarajan as he dismissed Rana for a personal score of 75 off 41 deliveries.
With 56 runs needed off 18 deliveries and Rinku Singh alongside Shardul Thakur on strike a lot of the game was still on the line. However, the SRH bowlers held their nerves to bag a 23 runs win.
