Viacom18 acquires the digital rights for West Indies vs India series
Cricbuzz initially reported the possibility of India playing two additional T20Is alongside the eight matches already scheduled in the Future Tours Programme (FTP), which includes two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is, on March 25.
In terms of broadcasting rights, Viacom18 has acquired the digital rights for the series and will stream the matches for free on Jio Cinema. Viacom18 has previously served as the digital platform for IPL 2023.
Dream Sports, the promoters of FanCode and the rights holders for Cricket West Indies bilateral matches has sub-licensed the digital content to Viacom18. Additionally, Dream Sports is currently negotiating a deal with national broadcaster Prasar Bharati for linear rights. DD Sports will continue to broadcast the games on television, maintaining the arrangement established between the two parties last year.
“We are working on various arrangements for the series. While the matches will be available on FanCode, we may also share the content with a couple of other platforms, both linear and digital,” stated a representative from Dream Sports.
