Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar named the uncapped player who impressed him most in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. For him, the standout player was young Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Yashasvi Jaiwsal and according to him, he’s a special player.
The IPL 2023 was all about youngsters setting the stage on fire and veterans making a remarkable comeback. Both young guns and old seeds were impressive in their own way but their goal was the same and that was to make their team win. They to some extent did that and it’s because of that it was the best season of the league.
Yashasvi Jaiswal even made greats like Jos Buttler, and Sanju Samson ordinary in front of him as such was his class this time. The southpaw shattered the record of the fastest fifty in the league as he achieved the milestone in just 13 balls this season.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 625 runs in the 14 innings that he played this year. He scored runs with an average of 48.08 and a strike rate of 163.61. Not only this he blasted five half-centuries and a hundred as well this season. His impressive performance saw him winning the Emerging Player of the tournament award.
Sunil Gavaskar said that the number of runs Yashasvi Jaiswal scored while opening the innings showed that he is special. The batting lauded him for his tally of runs as well. Speaking to Sports Today, Sunil Gavaskar said:
“The standout has been Yashasvi Jaiswal. Look at the hundred and the fifties he has scored. Look at the 500-odd runs that he has in the tournament. He has done that opening the batting and it tells you that he is something special.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal after his impressive performances was added into the Indian squad as a stand-by in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who earlier was in the team. He informed BCCI about his marriage and was available after 5th June. But head coach Rahul Dravid named Jaiswal as the replacement in the squad.
Yashasvi Jaiswal not only has been going through a purple patch in the IPL but he also was in sublime touch in Ranji Trophy as well as he amassed 404 runs in 5 games he played. Overall he has 1,845 runs in 15 first-class games at an average of 80.21 to go with nine centuries and two fifties.
