Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) spinner Mayank Markande opened up about his bowling spell in the 14th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He said that he rates his performance very high and talking with Adil Rashid has helped him a lot.
Mayank Markande was the main architect behind SRH’s staggering bowling performance that saw the home side restricting the opposition to a total of just 143 runs. Bowling first, pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen gave them a fiery start as they reduced visitors to 22/3.

Mayank Markande first removed Sam Curran for 22 runs in the 9th over and then followed it with the wicket of Sikander Raza for 5 runs in the 10th over. If this was not enough, he then trapped Shahrukh Khan in Lbw for 4 runs and then removed Rahul Chahar for the duck to return with the figures of 4/15.

The leg-spinner spoke about his performance and said that he was happy to get the opportunity and revealed that his plan was to bowl slowly. While speaking during the post-match presentation, he said:
“Very happy to get an opportunity. My role is to take wickets in the middle overs. I bowled slowly and fortunately got the wickets. With the impact rule, you should always be prepared.”

Mayank Markande replaced Adil Rashid in the team as SRH opted to bring Heinrich Klaseen into the team. However, the young spinner filled in the shoes of an English spinner quite perfectly as he bowled exceptionally well.
He revealed that discussing his game with Adil Rashid has helped him a lot and he rates his performance very high. He added further:
“The talks with Adil Rashid has helped me. During the red-ball season, I worked hard with Aavishkar Salvi. I rate this performance very high, happy to contribute.”
SRH will next take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next game. The match will take place at Eden Gardens on Friday (14th April).
