Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Aiden Markram addressed his team’s win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 14th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. He credited Rahul Tripathi after the victory and said that the batter is always a couple of balls away from doing something special.
SRH displayed a staggering performance as they thumped PBKS by 8 wickets to register their first win of the season. It was a collective effort from their end as they batted and bowled well, more importantly, they handled the pressure situation well to make a strong comeback after two losses.

Chasing the target, although they lost Harry Brook early. But it was Rahul Tripathi, who stood tall and took his side home. Rahul Tripathi smashed unbeaten 74 runs with the help of 10 fours and 3 sixes and also stitched a 100-run stand with skipper Markram (37*) to take his team home by 8 wickets.

Captain Aiden Markram opened up about his team’s performance and said that it was a pleasing win for them after a rough start. He also lauded Mayank Markande for his performance. While speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:
“It was special. It was a bit rough for us at the start but we are happy to win today. I believe that our great fan base was a privilege tonight. To get a win in front of them was very pleasing. Identifying how we can get better was quite important. But it was still about believing in ourselves. (On Markande replacing Rashid) It’s not a nice move to make (dropping Rashid) but I am super happy for Markande. He bowled really well tonight. He has a lot of heart about him.“

Aiden Markram further lauded Rahul Tripathi for his staggering effort with the bat. He said that Rahul Tripathi showed his class and the batting becomes easy when he’s at the other end. Aiden Markram elaborated:
“(On Rahul Tripathi) He is only a couple of balls away from something special and he showed his class tonight. It’s easy with Rahul at the other end. Great franchise to be a part of and it’s our first win of the season, it means a lot,” Aiden Markram said.
SRH will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next game. The match will take place at Eden Gardens on Friday (14th April).
