Hambantota in Sri Lanka is all set to host the SL vs AFG three-match ODI series. The three first ODI will be played on June, 2 Friday. The match starts from 2.30 pm local time. The three ODis will be played on June 2, 5 and 7 respectively all in Hambantota.
Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are playing against each other twice in the space of six months. The two sides previously met in an ODI series in November 2022. The series ended 1-1. Both sides also met in the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup last year.

Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka in the league stage while the Lankans won against them in the Super 4 stage. Sri Lanka also won against Afghanistan by six wickets in the T20 World Cup.
Sri Lanka will be led by Dasun Shanaka. They have named a powerful 16-member side with white-ball specialists back in the side. Speaking about Afghanistan, Hasmatullah Shahidi is set to lead the Afghans in this ODI series after Mohammad Nabi stepped down as the white-ball skipper after the T20 World Cup. Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Noor Ahmad and Rahmanullah Gurbaz who played in the IPL are back in national colours. Rashid Khan will miss the first two ODIs due to lower-back injury. He is expected to return for the third ODI on June 7.

Hambantota will host all the three ODIs. The matches will start from 10 am IST. So far 23 ODIs have been played at the venue with 251 being the average first innings score. The pitch is expected to have true bounce and carry and be a batting-friendly wicket in the first half. With the cracks opening up in the afternoon, spinners are expected to get more purchases from the wicket.
Speaking about the weather conditions, it is expected to be windy with intervals of clouds and sunshine. The temperature in the morning will be around 32 degrees. By the afternoon, the conditions are expected to remain similar. As the evening approaches, the temperature will drop down to 27 degrees with patch clouds in between. There will be cloud cover of nearly 60 percent and over 10 percent chance of rain.
