Shelby Miller & Phil Bickford only weekend pitchers to not get scored on – Dodgers Digest

0

Not only have the Dodgers lost three in a row to the Diamondbacks after this 11-6 shellacking, but that’s now back-to-back losses where the rotation depth and pen has gotten lit up.

Not great.

======

The Dodgers needed length from their starter Michael Grove today and they did not get that. In their quest to make him pitch deep, Grove got shelled, eating nine runs on 12 hits in just 3.1 innings today. Brutal.

Caleb Ferguson, who looked like the second pitcher that Dodgers could rely on in leverage, followed by giving up four hits and two runs and the rout was on.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers offense has generally done their job over the weekend, scoring eight yesterday and six today.

The Dodgers had seven hits, including four for extra bases, and five walks. J.D. Martinez in particular excelled with a double and a triple for two RBI.

Still, they were basically never in the game after the 4th, scoring just a few consolation runs in the late innings to make things look not as terrible.

——

The Dodgers actually closed the book on the D-backs well, as Shelby Miller got 1.2 scoreless innings despite walking three batters.

Well, I suppose Miller did get scored on if you count inherited runners.

That would leave … Phil Bickford as the only Dodger pitcher to not get scored on this weekend. He followed Shelby with two scoreless frames of his own, including three strikeouts.

Congrats to them, as it’s a big accomplishment given how the rest of the pen has performed.

======

5-5 now, mid as fuck.

The Dodgers now travel to San Francisco for a set against the Giants, starting tomorrow at 3:45 PM HT/6:45 PM PT/9:45 PM ET with Julio Urias against Logan Webb.
