The Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma is set to break multiple records against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The Mumbai-based franchise will take on the Knight Riders in their next match of the ongoing season at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, April 16.

The Rohit Sharma-led team is coming back from a 6-wicket win over the Delhi Capitals (DC). Rohit Sharma starred in the match with a brilliant half-century at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The Mumbai team registered their first win of the team tournament after suffering back-to-back losses in the first two games.

The Mumbai Indians skipper scored his first half century in the cash-rich league since 2021. The right-handed batter’s last half-century came against the Delhi Capitals in the final match of the IPL 2020. Rohit provided a flying start in the powerplay and scored 65 runs off 45 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes.

Piyush Chawla picked up three wickets for just 22 runs in his four overs against the Capitals, dismissing Manish Pandey, Rovman Powell, and Lalit Yadav. The veteran leg spinner took four wickets in three games this season at an impressive economy rate of 6.75.

Rohit Sharma is 44 runs away from becoming the fourth batter to complete 6,000 runs in the IPL, joining Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and David Warner in the elite list. Kohli leads the chart with 6838 runs, followed by Shikhar Dhawan (6477) and David Warner (6109).

Rohit Sharma is on the verge of one more massive milestone in the IPL. He needed five more sixes to become the first Indian batter, so he smashed 250 sixes in the world’s richest league. Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batters Chris Gayle and Ab de Villiers are the only batters to achieve the milestone. Gayle tops the list of the most sixes in IPL with 357 sixes, followed by Villiers with 251.
