Roger Goodell has a plan for TNF that fans will love and teams will hate

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell revealed his eventual plans for Thursday Night Football, which fans will love, and teams will probably hate.

The 2022 NFL season is set to officially end on Sunday, when the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles battle in Super Bowl 57. While there were some great games throughout the season, there were also some bad ones, that just so happened to take place in primetime. Thursday Night Football, in their very first year on Amazon Prime Video, featured some unexciting and bad football games.

There may be some good news on the horizon for fans, which is also bad news for NFL teams, coaches, and players.

While speaking with the media on Wednesday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that it wouldn’t surprise him if Thursday Night Football games can be flexed “eventually.” There was no timeframe listed as to when that could become a reality.

Roger Goodell wouldn’t be surprised if Thursday Night Football games were flexed

This isn’t an official move coming, just Goodell saying that flexing Thursday night games could happen. What is happening, however, is that Monday Night Football games will be flexed starting next season.

Flexing on Thursday night has the makings of being an unpopular move for teams, considering it would be a short week to prepare for the game. However, one would imagine that if this were to come to fruition, they would give teams weeks in advance to prepare to be flexed into the Thursday night primetime spot.

The quality of play on Thursday Night Football games this season was under fire by fans on social media. Some of the games that stand out include the Indianapolis Colts vs. Denver Broncos in Week 5 and the Washington Commanders vs. Chicago Bears game in Week 6.

Again, the flexing of Thursday night games is not happening right now. As for football fans, they are hoping the schedule will be better next season.
