Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has slammed Delhi Capitals (DC) coaching staff for the team’s poor run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that there’s zero value of great minds if the players aren’t scoring runs or taking wickets.
Delhi Capitals are having a torrid run in the ongoing IPL 2023. The David Warner-led side have played four games so far and has lost all the games so far. It’s fair to say that they have struggled to get going with both bat and ball and have looked ordinary in the league.

In their ongoing game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), they bowled well and reduced them to a total of 174 runs. But it was another torrid run for them with the bat as lost wickets in clusters and lost 6 wickets for just 80 runs.

Virender Sehwag was disappointed with the way how Delhi Capitals have performed in the IPL. He said that even though they have great minds in their dugout in Ricky Ponting, Sourav Ganguly, and Shane Watson there’s zero value if the players aren’t scoring runs or taking wickets. Speaking to Cricbuzz, he said:
“To be honest with you, there’s zero value of the staff that’s present there. It doesn’t matter who strong your team is, it’s the players who are performing badly out there. You can have as many great minds as you like in the dressing room, if your players aren’t scoring runs or taking wickets, what they will do.”

Virender Sehwag further went on to say that Delhi have players in the team who can help them win the title but they aren’t scoring runs and wickets. He added:
“I will never understand that. You have to pick players who can win you matches, and you don’t have to direct them every time. When you have those players, you can become champions. Delhi do have those players, but they’re not scoring runs or taking wickets. You can make strategies, in the end, those who enter the ground have to perform.”
Delhi Capitals (DC) will be next seen in action when they will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday (20th April).
