Bangalore chasing the mammoth target on the board had a rough start as they lost Virat Kohli early in the game. Mahipal Lomror soon followed the former skipper to the dugout after being dismissed on a duck.
RCB skipper Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell however had other ideas as the duo put together a 126 runs stand for the third wicket that gave Chennai Super Kings a massive scare. However, MS Dhoni managed to keep his troops calm and made a good change of bowlers to dismiss both Faf and Maxwell, MS Dhoni played a crucial role in both wickets as he latched onto two skyscraping catches.

It Is A Difficult One For The Youngsters: MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni was present with Sanjay Manjrekar during the post-match presentation as he talked about his game. The CSK skipper felt like the way Faf and Maxwell were going they could have finished the game within 18-19 overs but he knew a wicket was going to come in somewhere.
“When you come to Bangalore, it’s a good wicket. Early part of IPL you get a lot of dew. You want to start well and then alter whatever is there in your mind. It was slightly tacky at the start. It’s important to go through that and then look to accelerate. We kept it simple and tried to as much as possible in the second half of the innings. (On Dube) He is someone who can hit cleanly. He has an issue with the fast bowlers but he’s a clean hitter against the spinners. We had certain plans for him. We feel he’s someone he can deliver. He needs to believe in that more than us.”
“Whenever you score 220, the batsmen need to keep on hitting. If Faf and Maxi had continued, they would have won it by the 18th over. I keep assessing from behind the wicket, I am always involved in what needs to be done rather than thinking about the result.”
MS Dhoni also touched down on having a batch of young bowlers in the squad who are responsible for the death overs. The former Indian skipper feels like the team has struck its plans.
“(Death overs) It is a difficult one for the youngsters. But they are working hard. Bravo is one of the specialists. Under him, the bowlers will gain confidence. It’s a team game. The coach, the bowling coach and the senior players guide them.”
With the game done and dusted, Chennai will be happy with the narrow escape but will gave to put up some more dominating performances if they wish to establish themselves as title contenders for the season.
