STARKVILLE, Miss – A man came to Mississippi State in 1976 because he wanted to coach baseball. While KC and the Sunshine Band played on eight-track cassettes inside Oldsmobile Cutlasses across the nation, college baseball was just an afterthought.

Ron Polk set out to change that—the baseball part, not the music and cars.
