PBKS vs MI: “I Should Have Finished The Game”

Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Suryakumar Yadav opened up about his match-winning knock in the 46th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He said that he’s happy with the way he played but he’s disappointed that he couldn’t finish the game. 

MI batter Suryakumar Yadav continued his golden touch in the game against PBKS. He played another “video game” type innings that ensured his side doesn’t lose the momentum and stay in the game while chasing mammoth target of 215 runs.

Suryakumar Yadav came as an impact player and went from the word go. The new Mr 360 took PBKS bowlers to the cleaners and smashed them all over the park. Despite MI lost two wickets, he put the opposition under pressure and kept his side in the hunt.

Suryakumar Yadav scored runs in all parts of the ground and ended with a score of 66 runs in just 31 balls. He batted with a strike rate of 212.9 and smashed 8 fours and 2 sixes in his innings that helped MI chase over 200 runs for the second consecutive time in the league.

Suryakumar Yadav said that it was important for him to bat with a positive mindset and revealed that he prepares for such situations. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said: 

“Really happy we ended up on the winning side, but feel I should have finished the game. When I went in, it was important to bat with a positive mindset and obviously support Ishan who was batting really well. I always prepare for these situations, all the plans are very clear and I just try to be myself when I walk out to bat.”

PBKS vs MI: “I had to support Ishan,” says  Suryakumar Yadav 

Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan was the wrecker-in-chief for MI in their win. The opening batter blasted 75 runs in 41 balls that helped MI win. He also shared over 100-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav. 

Suryakumar Yadav said that it was important for him to support Ishan Kishan and said that he’s glad that their partnership helped them to win. He added: 

“I had to support Ishan and also bat with a similar strike-rate to bring the game close in the end. I actually don’t have the power game, I like to time the ball and play with the field. Really happy that the partnership helped for the winning cause.” 

Mumbai Indians (MI) will be next seen in action when they will take on their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday (6th May).
