In the 18th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Hardik Pandya’s Gujarat Titans had a tough fight against Punjab Kings as they were unable to finish the game easily despite being in a comfortable position.
Punjab Kings set a decent total of 153 runs batting first, thanks to the consistent efforts of their middle-order batsmen who scored runs evenly and prevented Gujarat Titans from dominating them despite losing wickets frequently.

Although Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans were on the verge of winning the game, their star player Sam Curran almost led them to victory with an impressive final over against the opposition.

Gujarat’s skipper Hardik Pandya was present with the broadcasters after the end of the game where he touched down on how the game went down which could have been easily avoided. The skipper did not seem happy with how the game went down to the wire and said his team will want to work such things out in the future.

“To be very honest I would not appreciate for the game to go this deep. There was definitely a lot for us to learn from this game. That’s the beauty of sports, it’s never over till it’s over. We need to go back to the drawing board. They bowled really well. Luckily all our batters are in good nick. We should take risks and play shots in the middle overs, need to make sure the game doesn’t go so deep.”
“The ball was getting dried up, but the wicket was a belter. Wasn’t surprised when Mohit and Alzarri were bowling. He has done a lot of hard work, he has shown patience and his time has come [on Mohit]. It would have been a tough pill to swallow if the game had gone the other side. I would like to finish the game earlier, not a big fan of taking it to the last over.”
With the win secured Gujarat Titans are now in third place on the points table with a total of 6 points to their name. The side have won 3 out of their 4 games with their only loss coming to the Knight Riders in their previous game. The team will now face Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan who are currently standing at the top of the points table.
