West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle urged players of India and Pakistan players to demand more money as he feels that the clash between the two arch-rivals is the highest-paid game TV-wise and had he been in their place, he would’ve wanted more.

The games between India and Pakistan have always been high-intensity games. Whenever they play, the atmosphere is something that is undefinable as crowds, players and everyone involved in the match are under high pressure and it’s considered one of the biggest matches in sporting.

India and Pakistan don’t play in bilateral series anymore and lock horns with each other in the Asia Cup and ICC events, which makes the clash even more exciting. The two teams are slated to face each other in the World Cup as well as ICC recently announced the schedule for the event.

The much anticipated India vs Pakistan will take place on 15th October at the Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad. It promises to be an enthralling game as both the teams will be in front of the huge crow at the Narendra Modi International Stadium, which has a capacity of 1,30,000.

Chris Gayle while highlighting the humongous revenue that is generated during the India vs Pakistan game said that it can take care of the entire ICC event. Speaking to PTI, he said:

“Whenever those teams play, especially in a World Cup, the revenues they generate is humongous. One game can take care of the entire ICC event. Pakistan and India players should demand a lot of money for those games because those games are high paid games TV wise. I don’t control the board or the ICC. If I was in their position I would want a lot more.”

Chris Gayle also backed Virat Kohli to set the ICC World Cup 2023 on fire and while touting him as a tough player, he said that after getting in the groove he can be very dangerous. He added:

“Tough times don’t last long, tough players last longer. Virat is tough mentally as well physically. I don’t see any reason why he shouldn’t go to this World Cup and dominate. As players, we always go through phases where things seem a bit dull and you need positive energy around to uplift yourself. Once we get back in the groove we know how dangerous we can be.”

ICC World Cup 2023: “Pressure will be on India as they play at home as favourites,” says Chris Gayle

India will be the hot favorites going into the World Cup 2023. But not many have given them a fair chance to win the Cup because of their outings in the ICC events since 2013. They last won ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 and since then have lost T20 World Cups, World Cups, and Test Championships as well.

Chris Gayle feels that India will be under pressure as they will be playing at home. He also put West Indies on the same page with India, having not won ICC Trophy for a long. He picked India, Pakistan, England, and New Zealand as his semi-finalists. He explained:

“I know India have not won an ICC trophy in a long time and the same is the case with us (West Indies). We last won in 2016. Pressure will be on India as they play at home as favourites.”

The ICC World Cup 2023 is just around three months away from now. The festive of cricket will begin on 5th October with a blockbuster clash between England and New Zealand. The semi-finals are slated to take place on the 15th and 16th November whereas the final will be played on the 19th November in Ahmedabad.
