RALEIGH, N.C. — Inside the NC State locker room, the party was on. Through the closed door and across the hallway where media waited for postgame interviews, coach Elliott Avent’s booming voice could be heard saluting his club for a job well done, and wishing third baseman Gino Groover a happy birthday, while players cheered raucously. As Avent made his exit, and the Latin music increased in volume, and the hooting and hollering continued.
