DC vs MI Match Report: Mumbai Indians will be happy with their performance in their 3rd outing in the Indian Premier League 2023 as the five-time champions managed to bag their first win of the season thanks to a brilliant opening stand between skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan as the duo stitched together a 71 runs partnership in a 6-wicket win over Delhi Capitals.

The Capitals, on the other hand, have now lost four consecutive games in the tournament this season and their chances of making it into the knockouts will start to get low with every single loss they suffer from this point in the tournament.

Chasing 173 runs on the board, Mumbai Indians finally had a good start to their innings this season as skipper Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Ishan Kishan stepped up their game putting up a much-needed 71 runs partnership for the opening wicket. Tilak Varma was in next and the batter alongside Rohit Sharma kept the runs flowing as the Mumbai Indians skipper reached his first fifty runs landmark in this edition of the tournament. Delhi Capitals tried to do their best and get in a breakthrough but the opening stand had already done too much damage much the momentum comfortably in Mumbai’s grasp.

Rohit Sharma however lost his wickets towards the finishing moments as Delhi managed to find a small comeback in the game dismissing Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rohit Sharma in quick succession. However, Tim David and Cameron Green managed to hold their nerves and guide their team past the finish line on the very final delivery.

DC vs MI Match report: DC innings:

Earlier in the day, after being invited by Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma to bat first Delhi Capitals managed to do a decent job despite a slow start from David Warner followed by a string of constant dismissals thanks to Piyush Chawla who bagged three crucial wickets in the innings. David Warner alongside Prithvi Shaw had a small 33 runs stand for the opening wicket.

Following Shaw’s dismissal, things slowed down with Mumbai Indians starting to take control over the game. Manish Pandey did chip in 26 runs with the bat but could not take his innings longer as wickets continued to tumble at one end while David Warner was forced to play slow and take a calculated approach.

However, with the death overs in and David Warner still unable to put a foot on the gas, the responsivities fell on star all-rounder Axar Patel who started right off the get-go and scored a very essential 54 runs in just 25 deliveries to help Delhi get to a decent total on the board.

Mumbai Indians brought Jason Behrendroff back into the attack, which seemed to be the best move as the batter dismissed Axar Patel and Abhishek Porel in quick succession to take any sort of momentum from the Capitals as they had to settle on 172 runs on the board after being bowled out in 19.4 overs.
