Chasing 136, Lucknow Super Giants managed to avoid any early setbacks as their openers KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers added 55 runs for the first wicket. Rashid Khan broke the stand in the 7th over when he dismissed Mayers for 24.

And while Gujarat Titans finally managed to get the first breakthrough, they could not make further inroads in quick time to put pressure on LSG. They could have got another wicket but Abhinav Manohar dropped Krunal Pandya when he was on 6.

Rahul and Krunal then all but sealed the game for their side by adding 51 runs for the second wicket. Noor Ahmad broke the partnership when he dismissed Krunal for 23. Before the partnership ended, Rahul reached his fifty off 38 balls.

At 106 for 2 in the 15th over, it looked like LSG would go on to register an easy win but GT were not ready to give up. 4 runs after Krunal’s dismissal, GT had another wicket when Noor Ahmad dismissed Nicholas Pooran for 1.

The Hardik Pandya-led side managed to claw their way back into the game by bowling some tight overs. They conceded only 1, 3, 4, and 6 runs in the 15th, 16th, 17th, and 18th over respectively. The equation was finally down to 12 runs from the last over.

Earlier in the game, Gujarat Titans endured a tough outing with the bat after being asked to bat first by Lucknow Super Giants. On a slow pitch that assisted spinners, the reigning champions never really managed to hit the top gear with the bat.

Krunal Pandya gave the home side a solid start by sending back Shubman Gill for a duck. Wriddhiman Saha and Captain Hardik Pandya managed to steady the ship with a 68-run stand. But once Saha was dismissed for 47 by Krunal, Gujarat Titans’ innings pretty much lost momentum.

At 71 for 1 after 10 overs, the visitors were looking set for a 150-plus total. However, once Saha’s knock came to an end, the Titans struggled for runs. Pandya was not able to accelerate either. Barring the 18th over when he hit Ravi Bishnoi for two sixes and a four, he was kept quiet by the Lucknow bowlers.

Even David Miller struggled on the pitch and managed to score only 6 runs off 12 balls. In the last 10 overs, the Titans managed just 64 runs despite having 9 wickets in hand. Pandya was the top-scorer, scoring 66 runs off 50 balls.
