Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won the toss & elected to bowl first against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). LSG have been quite invincible in IPL 2023. Nicholas Pooran has struck breezy cameos in 3 matches for LSG. Nicholas Pooran has scored 79 runs in 3 matches with a strike rate of 175.66.
RCB would be aiming for a quick turnaround after a disappointing performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). All eyes would be on the duo Virat Kohli & Faf du Plessis as one of the batters needs to stay till the end of the innings due to their fragile batting lineup.
LSG’s star pacer Mark Wood would be roaring to rattle RCB’s batting lineup (*Wood was rested against the Delhi Capitals clash). It would be interesting to see how KL Rahul uses Jaydev Unadkat as the left-arm pacer can trouble the batters with his angle.
RCB should aim to post a target in excess of 180. There are chances that Dew might come into action later in the game. It won’t be a surprise if Dinesh Karthik gets a promotion to the No.3 position if there is an early blow for the RCB team.
IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)
LSG on the other side would be aiming to break the partnership of Virat Kohli & Faf du Plessis as the duo can inflict a lot of damage. The role of leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi would be decisive as he can fox the batters with his variations.
It is always nice to have an X-factor in your team – Nicholas Pooran on Mark Wood
Nicholas Pooran was seen interacting with the commentary panel ahead of the match. Nicholas Pooran spoke about the journey of LSG. Nicholas Pooran heaped praise on the speedster Mark Wood. Nicholas Pooran also stated that he is ready to play any role for the team.
“The experience has been amazing so far. We got a winning start to the tournament and I’m happy to contribute for my team. We’ve done well, obviously two wins in Lucknow and one loss to Chennai in Chennai, hopefully we can leave tonight with a win. The guys have been really good, everyone has stepped up to this level,” said Nicholas Pooran.
“The bowlers have also stepped up even though we know IPL is a difficult tournament for bowlers. (On Mark Wood) He’s rapid, it is exciting for him as well and it is always nice to have an X-factor in your team. He gets you wickets at crucial times. I’m here to do what the team requires – if it means batting 10 balls and smash a couple of sixes, that’s my job,” he added.
