Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has revealed his India XI for the ICC World Test Championship Final. The WTC 2023 Final will be played at The Oval between June 7-11. One of the two teams will be crowned the new Test champions.
Irfaan Pathan started with his XI with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill as the openers. While Gill was in great form in the IPL, Rohit was not so much. Incidentally, Gill won the Orange Cap but the Indian skipper struggled to get runs and more often than not was dismissed cheaply. However, Rohit has a good record playing in England and is expected to enjoy the pace off the track.

Pathan went on with Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane at three four, and five. Pujara has been playing country cricket in England and is well-known for the conditions. Kohli and Pujara had a successful IPL with the bat and will be expected to carry the form in the final as well. Both of them have plenty of experience of playing in England as well.

Pathan went with Ishan Kishan as the specialist keeper. There are talks of Kishan being the perfect replacement for Pant as he can play in the same template as Pant. Kishan also gives an added left-handed option in the middle-order with Ravindra Jadeja.

He further said that the selection of Ravichandran Ashwin and Shardul Thakur will depend on the pitch and the conditions ahead of the first day’s play.
Irfan Pathan concluded his playing XI with Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav as his specialist pacers. Jasprit Bumrah will be a big miss in the XI however, the trio of Shami, Siraj, and Umesh are more than capable of making up for his absence.
