Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan stated that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side was benefited from the rain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Irfan Pathan pointed out that the Gujarat Titans’ best bowlers bowled only three overs each in a rain-affected encounter.
The Gujarat Titans put up a mammoth total of 214 for the loss of four wickets after being asked to bat first. Sai Sudharsan shone with the bat, scoring 96 runs off 47 balls to help the team reach the highest-ever total in an IPL final. Shubman Gill scored 39 runs off 20 balls before being dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja.

The CSK played only three balls before the match was stopped due to the rain. The match was halted for two and a half hours before the target was revised to 171 in 15 overs. As per the new playing conditions, the powerplay was for four overs, and a bowler can bowl a maximum of three overs in the Gujarat Titans’ bowling line-up.
The Chennai franchise chased the target in the final match to register their fifth IPL title, equalling the Mumbai Indians (MI) record of holding the most number of trophies. Ravindra Jadeja held his nerves till the end and smashed six and four off the final two balls of Mohit Sharma’s bowling when 10 runs were needed.
