Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra shared his opinion on the Indian squad ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final. The final will be played at the Oval from June 7-11. After the final, one of the two teams will be crowned the new World Test Champions.
Aakash Chopra analyzed the Indian squad ahead of the WTC final. He weighed the batting unit and the bowling unit differently and felt that India’s bowling is better suited for the conditions than their batting.

Talking to Star Sports, Chopra said he is slightly worried about the Indian batting lineup adding that the bowling lineup might win them the Test match. India beat Australia 2-1 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy ensuring their qualification for the final.
Slightly Worries About The Batting: Aakash Chopra
“When I see this squad, I see the quality in bowling. India’s problem will only be their batting. I feel this is a bowling attack that can trouble Australia’s batters in England. I am slightly worried about the batting. Australia start off as the stronger side to begin with, but I have tremendous faith in the quality of Indian bowling and they could upset the applecart,” said Chopra.

The former Indian cricketer further said that only Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujar are among the batters who can cope up with the Australian attack while the others don’t instill confidence based on their recent form. Interestingly, Rohit struggled with the bat throughout the IPL season while Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill scored a bagful of runs and looks in form.
Question Mark On Other Batters Based On Their Form: Aakash Chopra
“If you see the top six and their current form and imagine that they are playing in England, who gives you the confidence – Rohit Sharma, and Cheteshwar Pujara is once again a reliable player. Barring these two, there is a slight question mark on the others based on their form,” Chopra added.
Chopra concluded by saying that the Indian bowling attack can bring them back into the Test match even if they start on the backfoot with the bat.
Bowling Can Bring India Back Into The Game: Aakash Chopra
“Bowling can probably bring India back into the game. You said there is one Test match, so there are fewer chances of making a comeback but Test match cricket is such that if you don’t play well in the first two days and you improve your game later, a comeback can happen,” said Chopra.
Australia qualified for the WTC Final with 152 points in 19 games as the table toppers while India finished second with 127 points from 18 matches.
