Former BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly has opined that players should have the ability to make adjustments to their technique and temperament to do well in the WTC final after a long Indian Premier League (IPL) season. He is also happy with the venues that have been decided for the forthcoming ICC World Cup 2023 in India. Sourav Ganguly praised BCCI and ICC for the correct allocation of World Cup matches to different venues across India.
ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 schedule was released a few days ago. The tournament will be played in India. The tournament starts on October 5 with the opening game between England and New Zealand- the finalists of the last edition. The ICC World Cup 2023 final takes place on November 19.

Ajinkya Rahane played very well during IPL and World Test Championship final – Sourav Ganguly
During an interaction with PTI, Sourav Ganguly was asked to share his views on whether the BCCI should speak to IPL franchises to monitor the workload of players as the World Test Championship finals are scheduled after the cash-rich T20 league.
Sourav Ganguly said that he doesn’t agree with this theory and mentioned that a few players who participated in the IPL 2023 went on to deliver good performances in the WTC Final.
“I don’t agree with this theory. Ajinkya Rahane also played IPL and he played very well during IPL and World Test Championship final. So I don’t believe in this theory. Some of the Australian boys (Cameron Green, David Warner), played well in IPL also and did well in World Test Championship,” he said.
“After IPL finished, there was enough time to acclimatise to Test cricket. They went to England and they played. It used to happen in the past. You played ODI cricket and you played Test cricket, things used to happen very, very quickly and so I don’t believe it’s an issue. So I believe that even if you play IPL, you should have the ability to adjust your technique and temperament and do well in a Test match.”
BCCI And ICC Have Done A Great Job For ICC World Cup 2023 Venues: Sourav Ganguly
While speaking about ICC World Cup 2023 schedule, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said that BCCI and ICC have done a great job to give correct matches to the correct venues. Some cricket associations were not happy with BCCI’s decision of not allotting them a World Cup match.
“It’s a great schedule and the allocation of the matches has been fantastic. BCCI and ICC have done a great job to give correct matches to correct venues and I know it is going to be a tremendous World Cup. I know how BCCI organises the IPL, they will make it a spectacle,” Sourav Ganguly said.
