The 23-year-old India National Cricket Team opening batsman Prithvi Shaw is all set to play for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club after the ongoing season of the Duleep Trophy, according to reports in the Times of India (TOI).
Prithvi Shaw is part of the West Zone Squad in the Duleep Trophy 2023. He will be seen in action when the West Zone will take on the Central Zone in the first semi-final of the competition. The first semi-final is all set to be played from July 5 to July 8 at the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur.

Meanwhile, a TOI journalist took to Twitter to break the news of Prithvi Shaw playing for Northamptonshire in county cricket. The youngster will represent the Northamptonshire side in county cricket after a stint with the West Zone in Duleep Trophy 2023. This is set to be his maiden stint in county cricket.
“Prithvi will be playing in four-day County Championship matches and in the Royal London One-Day Cup (50 overs tournament). Before that, he will play in the Duleep Trophy semi-final (against Central Zone), and if necessary, in the final (July 12-16),” a reliable source told TOI.

Prithvi Shaw Had A Forgettable IPL 2023
Shaw has played 5 Tests, 6 ODIs, and 1 T20I for India National Cricket Team. He is currently not in India’s scheme of things in Tests and ODIs. Even though he earned a recall into the team for T20Is against New Zealand earlier this year, he did not get any chance to play. He last played for India during the Sri Lanka tour in 2021.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, he had a forgettable outing. Shaw was not a regular member of the Delhi Capitals (DC) playing XI in the tournament and he was dropped from the side after his back-to-back poor performances.
Overall, he played just 8 matches and scored 106 runs at an average of 13.25 and a strike rate of 124.71. His best score of the season was 54, which was also his only half-century in IPL 2023. It’s highly unlikely that Shaw will retain his place in India’s T20I squad for the West Indies series following a poor IPL season as there are plenty of other players, who might get a chance after performing well throughout the season.

Also, off the field, things have not been good for Prithvi Shaw as he was recently involved in a controversy with social media influencer Sapna Gill and recently the latest video between them has hogged the headlines.
