As the Australian team prepare for the World Test Championship final against India at The Oval, they have received a boost with the inclusion of all-rounder Cameron Green, who gained valuable preparation during his Indian Premier League (IPL) stint.
Cameron Green’s IPL campaign lasted longer than any other member of the Australian squad, and the team are confident that his participation in the tournament has provided excellent preparation for the upcoming series in England.

Cameron Green joined his teammates for the first major training session at Beckenham, where the entire 17-man squad, including additional bowlers Michael Neser and Sean Abbott, came together for a full day of center-wicket nets practice.
Despite his late arrival in London, Cameron Green immediately engaged in an extensive batting session, contrasting with his explosive performances in India. Notably, he smashed a 47-ball century at the Wankhede Stadium just 11 days ago, propelling Mumbai into the IPL playoffs. Throughout the tournament, Green scored 452 runs at an average of 50 and also claimed six wickets.

Cameron Green Offers Immense Value To The Team: Daniel Vettori
The Australian coaching staff acknowledges Cameron Green’s white-ball-heavy workload and its potential impact on his readiness for the six Tests in England, followed by the Ashes series.
Assistant coach Daniel Vettori emphasized the importance of any cricket as preparation at this stage and highlighted Green’s commitment to maintaining his bowling workload and readiness for Test cricket.
“We view any high-intensity, high-quality cricket as valuable preparation. Cameron is putting in the background work to ensure he is physically prepared for Test cricket. The challenge for some players who have had an extended break will be to get up to speed quickly. However, given Cameron’s extensive cricketing involvement, we believe he will handle it well.”
Vettori also acknowledged the confidence that Cameron Green’s successful IPL stint would bring to his game and the significant role he is expected to play in the upcoming series against England.
“Green offers immense value to the team, and his exceptional performance in India, followed by a successful IPL campaign, has further bolstered his confidence. He is a crucial part of the side. Having an all-rounder in top form greatly contributes to the smooth functioning of the team.”
The World Test Championship final is scheduled to commence at The Oval on Wednesday, June 7, and with Cameron Green’s inclusion and his recent success, the Australian team are optimistic about their chances against India in the ultimate clash of Test cricket supremacy.
