“I Would Look At The Trade Opportunity For Deepak Hooda”- Tom Moody Makes A Massive Statement

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) would be somewhat happy despite not winning the IPL as making it to playoffs was quite a big achievement. Deepak Hooda had a terrible season with the bat in hand. Deepak Hooda scored 84 runs in 12 matches and he seemed in all sorts of trouble.

It won’t be wrong to say that the interim skipper Krunal Pandya did a brilliant job and stood behind his bowlers in the crunch moments of the match. The side missed a quality Indian batter as there was immense pressure on the swashbuckling batters Pooran & Stoinis.

It would be interesting to see whether the veteran spinner Amit Mishra plays the next season. The 41-year-old leg spinner took 7 wickets in 7 matches and his variations were quite tough to pick for the batters.

LSG perhaps made a mistake by not including Quinton de Kock into the playing 11 straightaway as during IPL 2023. Kyle Mayers set the stage on fire as he showed glimpses of Chris Gayle but couldn’t dictate the terms during the later stages of the tournament.

Krunal Pandya did a good job in the absence of KL Rahul- Tom Moody

Tom Moody was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and he said that the pacer Naveen-ul-Haq did a good job in the absence of the speedster Mark Wood. Tom Moody heaped praise on Krunal Pandya and pointed out that the all-rounder did a good job in the absence of skipper Kl Rahul.

“They also had the distraction of captain KL Rahul. Krunal Pandya did a good job in the absence of the experienced captain KL Rahul. They had a few things happening but they had good things happening which were some positives. said Tom Moody.

He, however, felt that the LSG would have gone further in the tournament had their original skipper didn’t suffer an injury during the game against RCB.

“I feel that there’s no doubt that KL Rahul’s presence would have made a significant difference, particularly going into the back end of the season. His experience and the volume of runs for the top order is very difficult to replace and make the openers and a big player like KL Rahul would have stepped up on the opportunity ” he added.

Deepak Hooda had a season to forget- Tom Moody

Tom Moody further stated that LSG management should stick with the speedster Avesh Khan for the next season. Moody took a unique stance that the franchise should trade Deepak Hooda and highlighted that the all-rounder had a forgettable season.

“Avesh Khan & Deepak Hooda obviously had disappointing seasons. But firstly with Avesh Khan I would tempted to force a deal with him. Indian pace bowlers of quality, so with only one more year left in this year’s auction cycle,” said Tom Moody.

“I would stick with Avesh Khan and back the fact that he will comeback stronger. He has had more good seasons as compared to bad seasons,” he added.

“Deepak Hooda certainly had a season to forget. I will look closely whether to put him into the auction or look at other players. I would look at the trade opportunity which would be great. The surface at Lucknow is going to be the same,” he added.
