The 2023 WM Phoenix Open begins Thursday with the opening round at the boisterous TPC Scottsdale. Here’s what you need to know to watch Round 1 on TV or online.

Previewing Phoenix Open Round 1

Believe it or not, when Scottie Scheffler arrived at last year’s WM Phoenix Open, he had never captured a PGA Tour victory in his career. But everything changed that week.

Scheffler prevailed in a playoff to win at TPC Scottsdale, and then quickly followed it up with three more wins in the ensuing months, including his first major title. The hot stretch earned the young Texan the No. 1 ranking, though he’s since dropped to No. 2.

Despite that, Scheffler is being overshadowed by two other dominant players heading into his title defense attempt, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm, who have both been winning in bunches and have their eyes set on this week’s $3.6 million winner’s check.
