KKR vs SRH Match Report:ย Riding on Harry Brookโ€™s maiden IPL century, Sunrisers Hyderabad, on Friday (April 14), beat high-flying Kolkata Knight Riders by 23 runs to register their second win of the competition.

KKR vs SRH Match Report: KKR innings:

Kolkata Knight Riders began their pursuit of 229 runs in a disastrous manner. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed in-form opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz for a duck in the very first over before Marco Jansen sent back Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine in the fourth over to reduce KKR to 20 for 3.

Nitish Rana then launched a stunning counterattack to give the chase some much-needed momentum. In the final over of the powerplay, he hit Umran Malik for 28 runs. He and N Jagadeesan shared 62 runs for the fourth wicket to steady the ship.

Mayank Markande broke the stand by dismissing Jagadeesan for 36. Andre Russell (3) failed with the bat once again as KKR found themselves on the backfoot once again after being reduced to 96 for 5. Rana, however, kept playing his shots and found a good partner in the form of in-form Rinku Singh.

The duo kept the chase alive with a 69-run stand. T Natarajan broke the partnership by dismissing Rana for 75. But as the match progressed, the required run-rate kept mounting up. In the end, the equation was down to 32 runs off the last over. Rinku did score another whirlwind fifty but even he could not guide his team to another miraculous win.

KKR vs SRH match report: SRH innings:

Harry Brook starred with the bat as he finally announced his arrival in the IPL. The England star smashed the first century of the season to help Sunrisers Hyderabad post a mammoth total of 228 for 4 in the allotted 20 overs after they were asked to bat first.

Brook and his opener partner Mayank Agarwal gave the visitors a flying start by helping their team run away to 46 runs in just 4 overs. Andre Russell broke the stand in the fifth over when he dismissed Agarwal for 9. In the same over, he dismissed Rahul Tripathi too.

Brook and skipper Aiden Markram, however, did not let the hosts capitalise on those breakthroughs. While Brook played the role of second fiddle when spinners came on, Markram took charge and smashed a 25-ball fifty to lay the foundation for the big score.

He departed right after scoring his fifty and adding 72 runs with Brook for the third wicket. Markramโ€™s dismissal did not disrupt SRHโ€™s innings either as Abhishek Sharma looked in good touch too while Brook hit the top gear once the pacers started operating. The duo shared 72 runs for the fourth wicket before Russell broke the stand by dismissing Sharma.

Sharma departed after scoring 32 off 17 balls. Brook, on the other hand, went on to complete his century in 55 balls in the very final over of the match.

Brief scores:

SRHย 228/4 in 20 overs (Harry Brook 100*; Andre Russell 3-22) beat KKR 205/7 in 20 overs (Nitish Rana 75; Mayank Markande 2-27) by 23 runs.
