Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Devdutt Padikkal lauded his teammate Shimron Hetmyer for winning the 23rd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 for his team against Gujarat Titans (GT). He said that it’s unbelievable how he manages to perform exceptionally well for the team batting down the order.
Shimron Hetmyer was one of the main architects behind his team winning their fourth game of the IPL 2023. Batting down the order, the southpaw played delightful shots and took the game away from the GT, who were cruising at one moment.

Shimron Hetmyer stitched crucial partnerships with Sanju Samson (60), Dhruv Jurel (18), and R Ashwin (10) and made sure that he take his side home. He remained unbeaten on 56 runs in 26 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes and helped his side win their fourth game of the tournament.

Devdutt Padikkal said that he was tensed with the match going down the wire but was surprised with the way how Shimron Hetmyer does such things and said that it’s a great talent to have in the team. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:
“It got a little tensed in the end, especially when the match went down to the wire, but we had the batter out there who could finish it off. We had to keep the scoreboard ticking, and we made sure to get that odd-boundary. It was moving around a but in the first few overs, but thankfully we got through those overs. It’s unbelievable how he (Hetmyer) does such things, such a great talent to have in our side.”

Shimron Hetymer also opened up about his knock and said that he practices these situations. He cheekily said that win against RR was revenge as they defeated them three times last time. He said:
“I don’t have any words. Difficult to win against these guys, they beat us thrice last year but today was sort of a revenge. I practise these situations, it helps when you practise with that mindset of knowing we are few wickets down and chasing 100 with 8 overs to go.”
Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be next seen in action when they take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their next game on Wednesday (19th April).
