Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star-player Glenn Maxwell has revealed that he has still not fully recovered from a leg injury he suffered last year.

Maxwell was said to have broken his leg in what was described as a ‘freak accident’ at a birthday party last November. He missed all cricket since. Healing relatively quickly, the Australian all-rounder was selected for the ODI series against India right before the IPL, where he even played a match.

After scoring a quickfire 59 runs off 29 balls against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Glenn Maxwell told in the mid-innings interaction that, although he is out of rehab for the injury, his body hasn’t completely healed yet.

“I am certainly over the rehab. That’s the only thing I have done since the last 3-4 months so its a routine I have to go through and I guess to be back on the park and hopefully in a couple of months I’ll be back to full fitness. Still a work in progress every day and it feels nice like a big strong step forward,” he said.

The Aussie looked in fine form against LSG. His half-century helped RCB propel to 212/2. In spite of the mammoth score, LSG chased it down and won the match on the last ball by 1 wicket.

Glenn Maxwell had previously said that it would take months for him to completely heal

Before joining RCB’s camp ahead of IPL 2023, Glenn Maxwell told in an interview that even though he is cleared to play cricket, it will be months before his body is fully healed

The 34-year-old’s health is not only a big concern for RCB, but for Australia National Cricket Team too. In a World Cup year, the Aussies want their big-name all-rounder to be available for the international tournament in October-November.

“The leg’s okay. It’s going to be a number of months before I’m 100 percent. Hopefully, it’s (leg) good enough to get through the tournament and still do the job,” He said.

Maxwell was instrumental in RCB reaching the playoffs last year, as he scored 301 runs and took 6 wickets.
