Australia are looking to bring in Mitchell Starc at Lord’s in place of Cameron Green or Josh Hazlewood. Hazlewood returned in the first Test after missing the WTC final against India. Starc can be brought in as a part of the rotation of the players, especially the bowlers.

Steve Smith scored 774 runs in seven innings, the last time the Ashes was played in England in 2019. He scored 121 in the WTC Final against India which was a good warm-up knock for him ahead of the Ashes series. The knock will just get him going and keep him ready for what to expect against England.

The last time the Ashes was held in England was in 2019 with the series ending 2-2. Australia won the first and the fourth Test. England won the third and the fifth. The second Test at Lord’s ended in a draw.
Australia are the current winners of the Ashes having won the series back in 2021-22 at home. They won by 4-0 dominating England at home. Having won the WTC final recently will keep him in good stead heading into this Test match.

Talking about the pitch, the Lord’s pitch is generally a good one for batting, especially in the first three days of a Test match. The final two days assist the spinners. England have opted to include four pacers in the playing XI thus it will be interesting to see what kind of pitch.
