Dinesh Karthik Ridicules Australian Media For Its Fixation With Ravichandran Ashwin

On social media, seasoned Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik made fun of the Australian media’s fascination with star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Due to concerns regarding the outfield at the original venue in Dharamsala, the BCCI confirmed that the third Test between India and Australia has been shifted to Indore. The Dharamsala outfield has recently been re-laid by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in preparation for what would have been only the second Test ever played at the magnificent venue flanked by the Dauladhar range’s snow-capped mountains.

One of the Australian media outlets, Fox Cricket, tweeted the information that the third Test will be played in Indore rather than Dharamshala, “BREAKING: The third India Test has been moved to a new venue … where Ravichandran Ashwin averages 12.50 with the ball.

“The admin here clearly is one hell of a worrier. Seems to play more mind games with the Australian team than the other way around #INDvsAUS #BGT2023,” Dinesh Karthik replied, taking a dig at the Australian media.

Prior to the game, there was a lot of speculative discussion regarding the playing surface, especially in Australian media. Additionally, the hosts were criticised by certain Australian media sources for “selective doctoring” of the pitch. After the “doctored Nagpur pitch” controversy was settled, the same Australian media reported that the team’s “frame of mind,” not the wicket, was to blame for the team’s crushing innings and 132-run loss in the opening Test of the four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy.

In the opening Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 against Australia, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja both claimed five wickets thanks to their spin prowess. On Day 3, Ravichandran Ashwin’s five-wicket performance helped India defeat Australia by an innings and 132 runs, and Jadeja’s wicket-taking came earlier in the day when Pat Cummins’ team was dismissed for 177 runs in their opening innings. Following India’s innings and 132-run victory against Australia in Nagpur on Saturday, Ashwin and skipper Rohit Sharma had a subtle dig at the Australian media.
