Former Indian spinner Murali Karthik said that he didn’t understand the logic behind Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) decision to back Abdul Samad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Murali Kartik believes that Abdul Samad failed to make any impact with the bat for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL season.

Abdul Samad scored only nine runs off 12 balls against the Mumbai Indians in the most recent match. The right-handed batter came to the crease as an impact player when the team needed 66 runs from the six overs. The Jammu and Kashmir batter had been poor with the bat in IPL 2023, scoring 62 runs with a strike rate of 114.81.

Washington Sundar Is Such A Good Player – Murali Kartik

Murali Kartik feels that the Sunrisers team management is not utilizing Washington Sundar properly in the ongoing season of the IPL. The veteran spinner pointed out that Sundar had already played for India across all formats.

“I’m sorry, I never criticise anyone because we have all played the game. We are sitting comfortably in this AC room wearing the jackets, it’s not easy. But the faith that they have showed on Abdul Samad, I’ve never understood that.”

“He has never made that impact. Washington Sundar is such a good player, has played for India. Why isn’t he utilized? If you keep repeating such mistakes, you will remain lower in the points table,” Murali Kartik told Cricbuzz.

The 21-year-old made his IPL debut against the Delhi Capitals in the 2020 edition. He impressed with his power-hitting abilities in the lower down in the batting order, and the franchise retained him before the IPL mega-auction in 2022.
