0

The Board Of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) is likely to address the participation of retired players in the overseas league during their next meeting as per the reports in PTI. The meeting of the governing body is slated to take place on 7th July and quite a few agendas are likely to be discussed.

BCCI doesn’t allow the players to take part in foreign leagues until and unless they have announced their retirement from Indian cricket. Recently, Ambati Rayudu retired from the IPL and India and signed a contract with Texas Super Kings in the Major League Cricket, set to take place later this year.

The reports suggested that Ambati Rayudu’s move to join TSK in MLC made BCCI think into the matter so that they can safeguard the standard of domestic cricket and prevent any potential erosion caused by the proliferation of T20 franchise cricket, which may result in premature retirements among players.

The BCCI is aiming to introduce a clause regarding the involvement of retired players in overseas tournaments. Notably, Ambati Rayudu’s participation in the overseas league might tempt other retired players to take part in the foreign leagues as well.

The reports also suggested that BCCI in their meeting is also likely to address the roadmap for the upgradation of the stadium in India for the World Cup. The Cricket extravaganza will be played from 5th October in India.

As many as 10 venues will host the tournament in India. The cities that will host the World Cup are Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata.

Apart from this BCCI is all set to send the India B team to take part in the upcoming Asian Games, slated to take place in Hangzhou in September and October.
