In what has been the latest development as per the reports in PTI, it is learned that the legend of Domestic cricket Amol Muzumdar is all set to become the head coach of the Indian women’s team. The reports suggested Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) was impressed by his interview.
The CAC comprising Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe and Sulakshana Naik took the interview of the shortlisted candidates in Mumbai on Monday (Monday 3rd July). As per the reports, the committee was impressed by his 90-minute presentation. The official announcement is likely to be made soon.

A BCCI official confirmed the development while speaking to PTI: “The CAC was most impressed with Amol’s presentation who was very clear in his plans for the women’s team. The other presentations were good too but his was by far the best. He will most likely be recommended for the job.”

The other candidates were Durham coach Jon Lewis and Tushar Arothe. The BCCI is keen to name the head coach before the Bangladesh tour. The team has been without one since December last year after Ramesh Powar was sacked from the role.

“He is fully aware of what this team needs to get to the next level.” BCCI official on Amol Muzumdar
BCCI official further went on to say that Amol Muzumdar has rich experience of playing in the sub-continent conditions and he knows what areas the Women’s cricket team need to improve. He explained:
“Fitness is a major area of improvement for the women’s cricket team. Some of the players in the national side really need to work on their fitness. Muzumdar also highlighted the need to have a full fledged support staff, including a mental trainer.
“He is fully aware of what this team needs to get to the next level. Communication is not a problem with an Indian coach and he also has a rich experience of playing in the sub-continent conditions.”
India women’s team will be next seen in action when they will tour Bangladesh for the white-ball series, starting from 9th July.
