AB de Villiers, the renowned South African cricketer, has stated that picking a favourite for the World Test Championship (WTC) final is exceedingly difficult. However, he believes India will beat Australia on the fifth day.
The title-deciding match will begin on Wednesday, June 7 at The Oval in London, with teams led by Rohit Sharma and Pat Cummins. Australia will play in their first final, while India, who placed second in the inaugural competition, will play.

De Villiers was asked to identify the favourites and likely victors during the game preview on JioCinema, and he responded: “Very difficult to say who are the favourites. Both teams have not been playing a lot of Test cricket of late but what I can say is that India in their last Test match at the Oval have got a win against this very strong England team. They will be taking a bit of confidence from that,” AB de Villiers said.
“I think India will come out on top on day five of the Test match. I think it might go all the way. It’s a good wicket to bat on but I think the Indian spinners will come into play in the latter stages of the Test match,” AB de Villiers added.

Since the four-match series the two teams played earlier this year, neither Australia nor India have participated in a Test match. Many Australian cricketers are entering the final with little competitive experience, in contrast to all the Indian players, who were all playing either in the IPL or county cricket.
“I can’t wait to see him do well” – AB de Villiers on Virat Kohli
The well-known South African cricketer AB de Villiers has identified Virat Kohli as the Indian batter who will be expected to carry the load in the WTC final. Given Kohli’s track record and general influence on the Indian team, this is not surprising.
For many years, Kohli has been a mainstay of the Indian batting order and has always performed well under duress.
“I am just going to mention one and someone who has always been fired up with all these kinds of series, especially in the UK and Australia. Everywhere he has travelled, he wants to prove a point – it’s Virat Kohli. It’s great to see him enjoy the game of cricket and I can’t wait to see him do well in the UK again,” AB de Villiers said.
