The Seattle Seahawks want Geno Smith back, but three other teams should swoop in and steal him away.

Nobody expected such a dramatic turnaround and, quite frankly, late breakout from Geno Smith. But, that’s exactly what happened in 2022.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback was supposed to be a stopgap but instead found himself in the Pro Bowl.

Now 32 years old, Smith is looking to cash in for the first real time during his decade-long career.

Could Seattle actually be in danger of losing him? If three specific teams wanted to, they could try and steal him away.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

First up are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are now without a starting quarterback following the second retirement of Tom Brady. This time, though, it appears he’s for real.

The Bucs have much to figure out as far as their salary cap situation goes, but so do plenty of other teams. Smith proved he can sling it last year, and Tampa Bay has some weapons in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, the former of whom might not be around much longer.

Still, when healthy, this Bucs team is one that could compete for the NFC South title. Tampa only has Kyle Trask, at the moment, in their quarterback room. Thus, they are undoubtedly in the market for another. Whether it be via the draft or free agency, the Bucs need to be aggressive.

With the emergence of Rachaad White and some young tight ends, Tampa has more than enough for Smith to work with. He’d also have an above-average offensive line, should they all return healthy for 2023.
